We are seeking applicants for:
Human Genetics (GEN231q) 3 credit hours
Course Description: Using class discussions, lecture, videos, role-playing and small group activities, this course covers basic genetic concepts, genetic screening and diagnosis, pregnancy counseling, and common genetic disorders such as sickle cell, Tay-Sachs, and Trisomy disorders.
-Experience with informed choice and midwifery home birth practices desired
-Ability to break down complex information related to biology and genetics into manageable pieces for students with varying degrees of exposure to genetics
-Familiarity with and willingness to speak openly about specific challenges in counseling clients and share tips on how to apply the information covered in the course
-Ability to create an inclusive classroom and teach students how to become inclusive practitioners
